8oz unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 cup water
1 ½ cup sugar
1 Tbsp Piment d’Ville (regular, spicy, or smoky depending on what you're feeling)
¾ cup butter, cut into small pieces
2 tsp vanilla extract
In a small, heavy bottomed saucepan, gently heat water and chocolate over low heat until the chocolate is fully melted. Add sugar and Piment d’Ville and mix until sugar is completely dissolved. Add butter and vanilla and stir until fully incorporated. Serve over warm ice cream, cake, fresh strawberries or just eat by the spoonful.
